CalmNest
Sensory-aware interior design for children and families.

A child’s room can hold many different parts of their day: energetic play, focused activities, favourite collections and somewhere to rest.
CalmNest explores how those needs can fit together, starting with your child’s experience of the space.
Some children enjoy bold colour and movement. Others prefer softer lighting, clearer organisation or a quiet corner. Preferences can change throughout the day, so flexibility matters.
Understand Your Child
We begin with their routines, interests and preferences, alongside what you notice as a parent.
What do they enjoy about the room? What do they avoid? Where do they choose to play or settle? Wherever possible, your child takes part in the conversation and design choices.
Shape the Space
We consider layout, colour, lighting, texture, sound and storage together.
Depending on your family’s needs, this might mean a place to retreat, more room to move, easier access to belongings or distinct areas for different activities. The choices respond to your child rather than a standard formula.
Leave Room to Grow
Children’s interests and routines evolve. I look for adaptable ideas, useful furniture and changes that make sense for your family’s budget.
Who Is CalmNest For?
CalmNest is for families who want a more thoughtful approach to their child’s surroundings, including families with neurodivergent children. A diagnosis is not required.

Tell me about your child, their space and what you would like to work better. We can then agree the right level of design support.
